Statement of Introduction &Purpose
Open Hands Youth Network (OHYN) is a youth-led, non-governmental and community-focused organization committed to promoting sustainable development, youth empowerment, social inclusion, education, innovation, leadership development, environmental sustainability, and community transformation.
Our organization was established with the vision of creating opportunities for young people to become active contributors to national, continental, and global development. We believe that empowered youth are essential drivers of positive change and sustainable progress within their communities and beyond.
Open Hands Youth Network aligns its programs, projects, and strategic initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 Agenda and the African Union Agenda 2063, recognizing both frameworks as critical roadmaps for building a prosperous, inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable future. Through advocacy, capacity building, mentorship, volunteerism, entrepreneurship support, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, we contribute to advancing goals related to quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, climate action, reduced inequalities, good health and well-being, peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Our mission is to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, resources, and opportunities needed to become responsible leaders, innovators, and agents of sustainable development. We are dedicated to fostering collaboration among youth, civil society organizations, government institutions, development partners, academic institutions, and private-sector stakeholders to achieve measurable and lasting impact.
Open Hands Youth Network welcomes partnerships, collaborations, sponsorships, technical assistance, volunteer engagements, and development initiatives that support our vision and strengthen collective efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and the aspirations of the African Union Agenda 2063.
